Terms of Service
Last updated: September 3, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your purchase and use of Triage, a command-line diagnostic tool, under either a Personal or an Enterprise license. By downloading, installing, or running Triage, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't install it.
1. Who we are
Triage ("Triage," "we," "us," or "our") is a project of Astra Deus LLC, a company based in Texas, USA. References to Triage in these Terms mean Astra Deus LLC operating the Triage tool and website.
2. What Triage is
Triage is a command-line tool you install on your own computer (macOS, Windows, or Linux). It reads information about the hardware and software state of the machine it's run on, things like CPU load, memory pressure, disk health, recent crash history, and network connectivity, and reports what it finds directly in your terminal.
Triage is sold in two forms. A Personal license is a one-time purchase for an individual to use on computers they own or control. An Enterprise license is an annual, per-device subscription for organizations, and may include fleet reporting, deployment tooling, and support terms agreed separately in writing.
Triage does not require an account to run, and the tool itself does not phone home. We may change, limit, or discontinue any part of it, though we won't revoke a Personal license you've already paid for.
3. License to use the software
Subject to payment of the applicable fee, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and run Triage.
Under a Personal license, that means use by one individual, on up to three desktop or laptop computers that individual owns or controls, for their own diagnostic purposes.
A Personal license specifically does not cover:
- Servers, headless machines, virtual machines used as infrastructure, or containers;
- Devices owned or managed by an organization, whether or not an employee uses them personally;
- Running Triage unattended as a scheduled task or background service;
- Aggregating results from more than one machine.
Triage detects several of these conditions on its own and will tell you an Enterprise license is required rather than running. That check is a convenience, not a permission: the license terms apply whether or not the software detects the difference.
Under an Enterprise license, that means use on the number of devices covered by your subscription, by the organization named in your order, for that organization's internal purposes. This includes servers and headless machines, unattended and always-on operation, and fleet reporting. Enterprise licenses are annual and end if the subscription lapses.
Under either license, you may not:
- Redistribute Triage, or a modified version of it, as your own product without our permission;
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or attribution notices in the software;
- Use Triage to build a competing service that repackages its output as your own;
- Sell, rent, or sublicense access to Triage, or exceed the device count you've licensed;
- Run Triage as a paid diagnostic service for third parties without an agreement from us covering that.
4. Payment and refunds
Personal licenses are charged once, in US dollars, at the price shown at the time of purchase. Enterprise licenses are invoiced annually per the order agreed with us.
If Triage doesn't work for you, email us within 30 days of purchase and we'll refund a Personal license, no argument. Enterprise refunds and cancellation terms are set out in your order.
Prices may change for new purchases. A price change never applies retroactively to a Personal license you've already bought.
5. Diagnostics are informational, not a guarantee
Triage's findings, including anything it flags as OK, WARN, or CRIT, are informational only. They reflect what the tool was able to read from your system at the moment it ran, using the methods available on your operating system. They are not a certified inspection, a warranty claim, or professional repair advice.
A clean report doesn't guarantee your hardware is fault-free, and a flagged finding doesn't always mean something needs immediate action. Use your own judgment, and consult a qualified technician for anything you're not sure about, especially before acting on findings related to disk health, hardware faults, or data loss risk.
6. Automated remediation (Enterprise)
Enterprise deployments can enable automated remediation, where Triage applies fixes to a machine rather than only reporting on it. This is off unless you turn it on, and what it is permitted to change is set by policy that you configure.
Triage will not automatically act on hardware faults. Failing storage, memory errors, thermal and power faults, and anything requiring a reboot are escalated to the contacts you nominate, never remediated silently.
Automated actions are limited to reversible software changes, are recorded in an audit log, and can be run in a dry-run mode that reports what would change without changing it. We strongly recommend using dry-run and a limited rollout before enabling remediation across a fleet.
You are responsible for the policy you configure, for the environments you enable it in, and for maintaining backups. Because remediation acts on systems you control, in configurations we cannot see or test, you accept that automated changes carry risk, including service interruption. The warranty disclaimer and liability limits below apply to automated remediation in full. If you are not willing to accept that risk on a given system, leave remediation disabled there and use Triage in its read-only mode, which is how it ships by default.
7. The AI diagnostic feature
Where available, Triage's AI-assisted diagnostic feature summarizes and prioritizes the tool's own findings using a language model. Like the rest of Triage, its output is informational and may be incomplete, imprecise, or wrong. It is not a substitute for professional judgment, and you're responsible for verifying anything it tells you before acting on it, particularly anything related to data loss, hardware replacement, or system security.
8. Acceptable use
Triage is built to run against the machine it's installed on. You agree not to use it, or any part of it, to:
- Access, scan, or gather information about a device you don't own or don't have permission to diagnose;
- Attempt to disable, bypass, or interfere with the security of any system;
- Violate any law applicable to you.
9. No warranty
Triage is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that Triage will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that its findings will be accurate or complete.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Astra Deus LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use Triage, including damages resulting from actions taken (or not taken) based on its diagnostic output. Our total liability for any claim relating to Triage will not exceed fifty US dollars ($50).
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Third-party components
Triage is built using open-source software, each under its own license. Where Triage's optional AI diagnostic feature uses a locally-run language model, that model is subject to its own separate license from its publisher, not these Terms.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use Triage after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Termination
You can stop using Triage at any time by uninstalling it. We may stop supporting, updating, or distributing Triage at any time, for any reason, without notice.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you agree to that jurisdiction.
